BLUE MOUNTAINS RURAL FIRE SERVICE

BLAXLAND VOLUNTEER BUSH FIRE BRIGADE

STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES

Category: BRIGADE ADMINISTRATION
Title: AA-02 ELIGIBILITY TO VOTE FOR FIELD OFFICERS

Revision:

13 Jan 2005

Rationale:

Section 2.1.4 (iv) RFS Service Standard states that Field Officers have wide powers conferred upon them by the Rural Fires Act, 1997, therefore selection should not be skewed by non fire fighting members who do not bear the implications of the selection during fires, incidents or emergencies, therefore Field Officers should only be elected by active members as defined in the Brigade's SOP AS-04 Membership.

Standard:

Eligibility to vote for Field Officers is limited to Field Active members. Field Active membership is defined in the Brigade's SOP: AS-04.

A Brigade activity is any of the following:

* Brigade training
* Call outs / incidents
* Hazard reductions and hazard reduction preparation

Recording of a member's activity within the Brigade is by a point system for each activity a member attends. This point system is;

· A person receives one point for each time they are attached to a crew that attends a Brigade Activity.
· If a Brigade Activity occurs that requires a number of crews over a period of time, a member will receive one point for each crew they are attached to.

Standard Operating Procedure

SOP should be read in conjunction with Brigade SOP AS-04 (Membership Classification) and BMRFS SOP AE-01#12
