Rationale:
Because the role of members within the Brigade varies there is a need to classify each member into an area that best suits their and the Brigade's needs.
Standard:
For the purposes of the administration of the Brigade membership will be classed as follows:
Junior Membership (Cadet)
A Junior member is a person who meets the Brigade's membership criteria and;
Is between the ages of 14 and 17 years,
Has written consent from their parents or guardian.
Probationary Membership
A Probationary Member is a person who meets the Brigade's membership criteria and;
Has reached the age of 17 years,
Has if under the age of 18 years written consent from their parent or guardian,
Has completed the Basic Rural Firefighters Course,
Has been a member less than six (6) months from the time of completing the Basic Rural Firefighters Course.
Ordinary Membership
An Ordinary Member is a person who meets the Brigade's membership criteria and;
Has reached the age of 17 years,
Has if under the age of 18 years written consent from their parent or guardian,
Has completed the Basic Rural Firefighters Course,
Shows an interest in the affairs of the Brigade by regularly attending;
Meetings,
Fund raising activities,
Sanctioned community service activities,
Any other activity approved by the Rural Fire Service.
Active Membership
Active Membership is a member that meets criteria of Ordinary Membership and;
And has attended at least eight (8) activities as defined in Brigade SOP AA-02 for the 12 months from May to May before the AGM.
Standard Operating Procedure
This SOP determines procedures and eligibility to become a member of Blaxland Volunteer
Bush Fire Brigade and should be read in conjunction with
the Brigades Constitution,
Brigade SOP AA-02,
Blue Mountains RFS SOP AM- 01
and RFS Service Standards 2.1.3.
