STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES

Title: BE-08 VEHICLE USE

 

Rationale:

Rural Fire Brigade Service vehicles are used for the purposes of fire fighting, storm and weather damage, carrying out hazard reductions, training and approved fund raising activities.

Under NO circumstances are vehicles to be used for private purposes.

Standard:

No vehicle is to leave the fire station without obtaining the Captain's permission unless directed by Blue Mountains Rural Fire Service or in response to a fire call.

If required to respond/proceed to a fire, Captain/Senior Deputy Captain is to be informed as soon as possible.

Permission is not required for vehicles to leave the station on maintenance nights.

All crew members on all fire fighting appliances will wear / carry personal protective equipment (PPE) as appropriate at all times.

All crew members on all transport appliances (personnel carrier's etc.) will wear / carry personal protective equipment (PPE) as appropriate, unless deemed unnecessary by the OIC / Captain. (travelling to or from meetings / training etc.)

Vehicle movements are to be logged with Fire Comm .

Log sheets are to be completed for every journey.

NO vehicle is to leave the Local Government area without the approval of the FCO or DFCO.

Standard Operating Procedure:

SOP should be read in conjunction with BMRFS SOP OV-01.
