STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES

Title: BO-02 BUSH FIRE ALERT

 

Rationale:

The Commissioner, NSWRFS may declare a " bushfire alert" for all or part of a Rural Fire Service region when the following criteria reached:

* A FFDI of 45 or more occurs or is predicted or

* A GFDI of 45 or more occurs or is predicted or

* A Total Fire Ban occurs within the region or

* Numerous class 2 fires occur within the region or

* Conditions over a wide area are conducive to the spread of uncontrolled fire or

* An appointment under Section 44 is made within the region or

* Bushfire Management Committee Executive request a " bushfire alert" be declared

Standard:

The Captain shall

* Advise his Senior Deputy Captain/Deputy Captains/Station Officer of the bushfire alert.

* Ensure the fire station is manned with sufficient crews to enable a fully crewed vehicle to respond to any incident.
