Rationale:
On days of Very High/Extreme fire danger brigade officers are required to man fire towers to accurately pinpoint possible fires in the Blue Mountains Local Government area.
Standard:
Officers manning the fire tower shall be dressed in appropriate fire fighting clothing.
A minimum of two (2) active members will maintain a watch at any one time.
A maximum of four (4) active members will be allowed to maintain a watch at any one time.
Appropriate communications will be maintained with the station or BMRFS
Appropriate health and safety requirements must be adhered to.
Senior duty field officer is to ensure the fire tower is secured at the end of the day.
The fire tower is the property of Sydney Water and due care must be taken at all times.
