BLUE MOUNTAINS RURAL FIRE SERVICE

BLAXLAND VOLUNTEER BUSH FIRE BRIGADE

STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES

Category: BRIGADE OPERATIONS
Title: BO-08 OPERATING VEHICLES INSIDE THE STATION.

Rationale:

The exhaust fumes from the vehicles may cause irritation to people in the immediate area. The Blue Mountains District of the NSW Rural Fire Service and indeed Blaxland Rural Fire Brigade wish to provide a safe working place for its members.

Standard:

Because the tanker bays which house the two fire fighting appliances are longer than 10 meters in length both the front and rear roller doors are to be opened when the vehicle in that bay is started.

Because the bay, which houses the PC, is less than 10 meters in length the front roller door is to be opened when the vehicle is started.

Standard Operating Procedure

This SOP should be read in conjunction with National and State guidelines relating to vehicle emissions.
